If you’re thinking about a move to Arkansas, congratulations! It’s a great place to live and there are so many places to love here it’s no wonder you’re on the road. Before you make the jump, though, be sure to consider the following:
It’s the Country: Arkansas may be a bit more rural than where you’re used to and that’s okayit may even be what you like about it here. But consider your vehicle, what type of lifestyle changes you’ll need to make and even utilities like http://get.wildblue.com/internet-provider/ark satellite internetall things to think about.
Its Weather: Depending on where you live in the state the weather here can be a bit unpredictable. If you’ve never been in snow or dealt with a sandstorm you may want to do some research before you put down roots.
Choose a City: One of the hardest and most fun parts of your journey is going to be choosing a city and we’ve got some suggestions. If you love college towns try Fayetteville and for an urban feel try Little Rock. Think outside the box for a totally different experience!

When it comes to cave exploration in Arkansas you will never be dissapointed or bored. With the help of the limestone Ozarks they together create and expansive and diverse subterranean world. Underground lakes, crystals, and streams are a few of the many attractions to be found at any given time. Mineral formations sometimes containing helicite or flowstone can be seen around every bend and in every cavern. Stalagmites and stalatites protruding from the cave floors and hanging from the ceilings are sure to be points of interest for the younger ones. If that doesnt do it certainly the colorful tales of ghosts, ancient tribes and beasts, or numerous legends will.

Keep in mind the living caves are wet and the inside temperatures range from cave to cave though all year long they will remain in the upper 50′s to low 60′s, so make sure the family dresses appropriately. Alot of the caves are open year round while others only spring to fall to accomodte spelunkers. Gift shops, reconstructed mountain villages , museums, and other attractions are likely to be found in any one of the systems you visit. Expect to pay admission but rest assured every penny is well spent.

There’s no better time than now to refresh your knowledge of the great state of Arkansas and add some more information to your mind. The Natural State has so much to offer, from the lush Ozark mountains to the history connected with the Civil Rights movement. A beautiful state perhaps oft-overlooked, Arkansas has a lot to offer in the way of culture and environment.

Arkansas is home to a large cross-section of geological diversity, from caves to diamonds to the mountains themselves. Lush, green carpeting and fresh mountain air help make this state a true home away from home, even for the locals. But the communities and towns across this state are really what help Arkansas come to life. Little Rock was the first city in the country to integrate their school system in the 1950′s, and Former President Bill Clinton helped put the town of Hope, Arkansas on the map. Even now, the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock helps bring education and culture to a state that well deserves it.

From the humble beginnings of global corporation Wal-Mart to the quaint hot springs located in the Ouchita mountains, Arkansas is a treasure that’s just waiting to be explored!

Arkansas is a magnificent state full of entertaining and enjoyable things to do. One of Arkansas’ biggest commodities is the plethora of wineries located throughout the state. The tradition of great wine in Arkansas can be traced all the way back to 1880 in the Arkansas River Valley. The five wineries showcased below are not the only ones in Arkansas’ wine country, but they are on the list of the “must visits” due to their rich history and the quality of their products.

Arkansas is the home of the world renown Altus Wine Trail. Wiederkehr Wine Cellars is located on the trail and is among the oldest as well as the largest wineries in America. Not to be out done, Chateau aux Arc is next up with its tasting room atop St. Mary’s Mountain. Mount Bethel Winery is next on the list located at the foot of the Ozark Mountains. Following along the trail is the Post Familie Vineyards and Winery which is the largest in Arkansas and is operated by the third generation of the Post family. Last but definitely not least is Cowie Wine Cellars and Museum. The museum is dedicated to Arkansas’ wineries and their art of wine-making.

It’s hard to only write about ten fishing lakes in Arkansas. Arkansas offers great fishing from numerous lakes, rivers and ponds and its world famous trout waters provide a great experience for everyone from beginner to expert. Arkansas mountain lakes are some of the cleanest in the world. These lakes are fed with fresh, cold, spring and creek waters that maintain the clarity and cleanness of the water. There are two mountain regions in Arkansas. They are the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains.

The Ozark Mountain Lakes are:
Bull Shoals
Greers Ferry
Norfork
Beaver
Dardanelle

The Ouachita Mountain Lakes are:
Ouachita
Hamilton
DeGray
Greeson

These lakes offer an abundance of fish varieties including large and small mouth bass, crappie, rainbow trout, channel catfish and striped bass.Get more information here. http://charlotte.news14.com/content/top_stories/642796/mountain-island-lake-stocked-with-16-000-striped-bass The Norfork, Hamilton and Ouachita Lakes are known hot-spots for striped bass. Fishermen have caught striped bass weighing more than 50 pounds in these lakes.

In southern Arkansas you will find Lake Columbia. Lake Columbia is best known for its large-mouth bass but is a source for bluegills and red-eared sunfish. These lakes are maintained by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and are stocked annually.

There are several great lakes to boat in and have a great time in but there are only a few that are ranked at the top. Only a few of them are great for family and are safest.
These include:
Lake Austin which is located in Austin, Texas and is known for its beauty and clarity and has a variety of resturaunts right on the shore. Lake superior is in Michigan and is also very beautiful, although very large. Northwest Montana’s Flathead Lake which obviously is located in Montana. It is the largest freshwater lake in the west. Big Bear Lake which is just north of Los Angeles is ranked very high. Some others that share these same qualities are New York’s Lake Champlain, Detroit Lakes, Lake Mead, Lake Havasu, Lake George, and Wynoochee Lake. All of these lakes are great for boating, fishing, water skiing, etc. They are freshwater lakes and are great for family get togethers and are all located in great parts of the country where it is highly recommended to go. Many families have gone here before and are very pleased with the turn out of their boating getaway, and they all recommend it to others.
